On the morning of September 7, the first batch of emergency humanitarian aid materials from the Chinese government to Afghanistan for earthquake relief set off.
This batch of disaster relief supplies, mainly including tents and blankets, was transported to Kabul by two Chinese Air Force Y-20 aircraft. The remaining batches of relief supplies will be airlifted to Kabul in the coming days and distributed to the affected population as soon as possible.
According to reports, a 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan on August 31, causing severe local damage. On September 2 and September 5, Afghanistan was hit by earthquakes of 5.5 and 5.1 magnitudes, respectively.
The Afghan Red Crescent confirmed on September 4 that the earthquake in eastern Afghanistan has caused 2,205 deaths and 3,640 injuries.
