Attempts to use force to interfere in China's internal affairs will surely be dealt a heavy blow (International Forum)

Adhering to the One-China principle is a serious political commitment that Japan must fulfill. The Sino-Japanese Joint Statement signed when the diplomatic relations between China and Japan were normalized in 1972 clearly stipulates that the Japanese government fully understands and respects the position of the Chinese government that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and adheres to following Article 8 of the Potsdam Proclamation. In 1978, the two countries concluded the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between China and Japan, legally confirming the principles of the joint statement. The third and fourth political documents between China and Japan in 1998 and 2008 both reaffirmed their commitment to the position of the joint statement on the Taiwan issue. The "Joint Declaration of China and Japan on Establishing a Friendly and Cooperative Partnership for Peace and Development" reaffirmed that "there is only one China", and the Japanese side committed to maintaining only people-to-people and regional exchanges with Taiwan, thereby excluding the legal space for Japan to develop official relations with Taiwan. By comparing these solemn commitments, it is not difficult to see that the remarks made by Saori Takaoka regarding Taiwan clearly violate the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, seriously damaging the political foundation and mutual trust of China-Japan relations.
Any attempt to interfere in China's internal affairs by force is bound to meet a powerful counter-attack. Japanese militarists launched a 14-year-long war of aggression against China, inflicting great suffering on the Chinese people and unspeakable crimes against humanity. The Chinese people fought tenaciously and unflinchingly in the face of daunting difficulties and unfriendly environments at home and abroad, and eventually achieved a great victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Japanese militarist aggression also inflicted huge suffering on the Japanese people. Japan’s post-war pacifist constitution was born out of reflections on the war. Sanae Takaichi turned a blind eye to the fact that Japan’s post-war socio-economic development was achieved based on reflections on the history of WWII. She attempted to follow the old beaten track of militarism by taking advantage of populist sentiment. The political attempt to build up military strength by hyping the Taiwan question and the military adventurism that ignores the trend of the times and China’s resolve to achieve national unification are bound to meet powerful counter-attack from the Chinese people and joint opposition from peace-loving Asian countries.
